Motorola joins WiMAX Forum

CHICAGO--

Motorola announced at Supercomm 2004 this week that it has joined the WiMAX Forum, the industry body working to promote interoperability among broadband wireless systems that are in the midst of migrating to support the 802.16 standard.

Motorola's announcement came after other members of the WiMAX Forum recently hinted that the company was nearing a decision to join the group as a Principal Member. The vendor is displaying its Canopy broadband wireless products for license-exempt deployments at the show, and is planning to make 802.16 capabilities for the 3.5 Ghz band available in early 2005.
