Under a three-year extension of a previous OEM agreement, Alcatel will continue combine the media gateway product with its mobile switching system, built on the Alcatel 5020 Wireless Call Server. The French manufacturing giant also may use the Tekelec gateway in other fixed and mobile solutions, the company said. In addition, the two companies will work cooperatively to implement the open Mc interface, part of the 3GPP standards, between Alcatel’s switch and Tekelec’s Media Gateway.
Alcatel’s Mobile NGN line is currently deployed in North America, Europe and Asia by mobile service providers such as T-Mobile USA, Dobson, TA Orange, China Mobile and others, on both 2G and 3G networks.
