The analytics delivery platform allows people to get at metrics-oriented data about their companies on a number of different mobile devices both in off-line and online mode.

The platform is based on what the company calls metrics-driven management; the ability to measure something about your business, understand it through analysis of those measurements, gain insight into what that means, take action, and then continue to measure.

According to Girish Pancha, senior vice president and general manager of the platform business unit, the company is focusing and partnering with wireless device manufacturers to ensure that its software works effectively with the devices while providing a revenue source for carriers.

“From the carrier perspective, this does have the standard advantages for carriers — it ultimately drives traffic,” said Pancha. “There are things carriers can do to make this easier and in which case we would work with them so that the usability of the applications get a little bit better and the carriers get increased traffic.”

A key advance in the area of analytics, the Informatica software stack is based on an open, Internet-centric J2EE architecture. Built as an extension to the Informatica PowerCenter enterprise data integration platform, the analytic delivery platform allows for broad scale, enterprise-wide deployment to all levels of users; automated decision-making through analytic workflows and real-time alerts; easy-to-use and understand navigation; Web, wireless and voice interfaces for analytic dashboards, and secure collaboration inside and outside the firewall. In addition, Informatica has launched a new version of Informatica Applications that adds new functionality and incorporates the new analytics delivery platform.

By allowing users to be alerted to, navigate through and interact with key business metrics such as sales trends, customer order records, support logs and enterprise communications tools, the Informatica enterprise analytics solution allows users to make informed decisions in the office or on the road.

Pancha calls it “information democratization.”

“As we standardize these metrics and as we make it simpler to understand the relationship between different metrics, there’s a need for corporate information consumers to access this information,” he said. “We’re at the point of this technology where everybody, including salespeople up to the CEOs, need to have metrics that are balance scorecard that helps companies understand the whole business. All of them can use the same platform/application to get their information.”
