Brief: Nokia, Sonera to pilot MMS

Nokia and Sonera will test end-to-end Multimedia Messaging (MMS) technology and services in a live network environment.

In the MMS pilot, Sonera is using the Nokia Artuse MMS Center, a high-capacity platform which enables the combination of new multimedia messaging services such as audio and video clips, photographs and images, with traditional text messaging. Nokia also will provide Sonera with the software which supports the MMS technology.

MMS is an industry-standardized 3G service, and both companies have been actively contributing the standardization work both in WAP Forum and 3GPP.
