Verizon Wireless maps out international roaming

Verizon Wireless this week expanded its international roaming service, enabling subscribers equipped with tri-mode and digital wireless handsets to make and receive calls in Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, Dominican Republic, Israel, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, South Korea and Venezuela.

According to Verizon, international calls will cost 69 cents per minute for subscribers with monthly service plans of $39.99 or higher. Callers will also be responsible for long-distance, toll, surcharges and taxes levied by the international servicing carrier.

Verizon customers traveling to Canada and the Dominican Republic also have the option of international text messaging--Canadian SMS will cost 10 cents to send and 2 cents to receive, while in the Dominican Republic, users will fork over a quarter to send and 2 cents to receive.
