Convergys converts T-Mobile
T-Mobile USA signed a licensing contract this week with Convergys to use the vendor's Infinys billing system to support its wholesale partners in the U.S. The Deutsche Telekom AG T-Mobile subsidiaries in Germany and the U.K. also will deploy Convergys to provide settlement and wholesale billing.

Convergys, one of the leading billing and customer care providers as well as a provider of human resources and business process outsourcing services, will be supporting more than 19 million subscribers n the U.S. The contract includes consulting, implementation, integration, and knowledge transfer services following an initial scoping study to identify and define project requirements.
T-Mobile USA is a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom AG's (NYSE: DT) T-Mobile International and offers voice, messaging, and high-speed wireless data services. T-Mobile Germany and T-Mobile UK have also selected Infinys for their settlement and wholesale billing needs.
T-Mobile UK has grown to 15.7 million subscribers and with the 1 million T-Mobile Germany added in 2004, the company has approximately 77.4 million mobile subscribers.
Bob Lento, president of Convergys' Communications Industry Solutions said in a statement that T-Mobile's selection of Convergys' Infinys solution is another validation of the company's ability to apply its industry expertise to deliver the technology required by today's leading communications providers.
With this contract, Convergys is expanding its presence in the mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) space, which it began by supporting Sprint in its Virgin Mobile USA launch.
Earlier this month, Convergys expanded its HR business by announcing a definitive agreement to acquire the Finance and Accounting Business Process Outsourcing business of Deloitte Consulting Outsourcing LLC. The business also can be applied to Convergys traditional billing and mediation solutions.
