CBS to ship video clips over Bluetooth

CBS today said it is planning a marketing initiative that will allow mobile users with Bluetooth-enabled phones to download promotional clips from its new fall TV shows directly to their handsets at billboard locations in New York.

The billboards in Grand Central station will alert users that they can download clips from four new primetime series, "Shark," "Smith," "Jericho" and "The Class" as well as video from its long-running hit show "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" through the local area wireless connection onto a PDA or cellphone. The network is powered by Kameleon Technologies, which uses a Bluetooth content distribution rig called MobiZone to enable near-area applications.

A user only has to activate the Bluetooth functionality on their device and establish a connection with the MobiZone server and the clips will automatically download to their devices where they can be seen immediately of saved for later viewing.
