Though Motorola did not specify which particular models would have the enhanced search function, it said the feature would be available on millions of handsets worldwide, the first of which will be released in the next three months.
Motorola has used CES as a platform to launch many of its new handset products for the year. It unveiled its ROKR E2 phone at the show, which surprisingly does not contain iTunes. In fact, Motorola and Apple seem to have abandoned their relationship entirely after the lukewarm reception its first 'iPod phone', the original ROKR, received. Instead Motorola is focusing on launching its own music streaming service called iRadio.
On the hardware side, Motorola entered into a 10-year agreement with Eastman Kodak to make better camera phones. The product marketing and cross-licensing deal will incorporate Kodak's image science and system integration technology directly into Motorola's phone designs. The companies said that the alliance is intended to not only improve picture quality taken over camera phones, but also improve the ease-of-use and overall experience of camera phone digital photography. By incorporating the camera design into the phone design from inception, the camera no longer becomes an afterthought.
