Broadband business wireless firm expands to NYC

In particular, BOB is providing private networks to interconnect local sites such as data centers and financial exchanges for its financial services customers. As it expands into New York, BOB will link its Chicago and New York wireless networks with a fiber optic backbone.

The New York push is just beginning, Rosenberg said, with transmission sites being established. The company expects to begin offering service in February and is working hard now to educate potential customers through its direct sales process.

BOB is looking at other means of expansion, including a test of WiMAX in Chicago and a search for possible service provider partners, Kingston said.

“We are still a small company, and we are just getting started,” he said. “We want to look at other wireless technologies, but obviously, we wouldn’t get into the 700 MHz auction.”
