Wireless Phone Receives Stamp of Approval

The wireless phone won top honors in the U.S. Postal Service's 1990s memory quest. New stamps representing the 1990s are part of the Postal Service's "Celebrate the Century" stamp and education program honoring 20th century people and events.

Voting was conducted throughout May and was open to all Americans. The cellular-phone stamp, in the Lifestyles category, won the most votes (214,449) among the 30 topics in five categories. Other high-scoring topics were Titanic (210,154) from the Arts & Entertainment category; Recovering Species (193,414) from the People & Events category; and the World Wide Web (191,292) from the Science & Technology category.
