Mobile Content Delivery from @Road enables subscribers to receive location-specific content. MyWeb2Go uses @Road's LocationSmart technology to deliver content to WAP-enabled phones, PDAs and other mobile devices. Using a WAP- or SMS-enabled device, the mobile professional is able to link wirelessly to the @Road iLM installed in his vehicle. The iLM, which is equipped with an Internet modem and GPS chipset, provides the real-time wireless connection to the @Road repository of location-enhanced information and services, the wireless Web and corporate intranets.

GSM WAP Handset

Ericsson's GSM mode R320 WAP phone features built-in data and infrared capability, supports voice memo and stores personal codes. The R320s also has a profile function for personalization and a calendar for organization. The calendar and phone book can be synchronized with a PC calendar and address book via the infrared port. It's also possible to exchange business cards and ring signals interactively. A 5-line display offers users room to read WAP-delivered messages. It is available in blue, red and purple.

Conduit Software's WAP-DA is WAP-enabled directory-assistance software that uses Conduit's VAS platform to handle all of the inquiries and interfaces with various network modules and protocols to deliver information. This platform incorporates multiple-protocol support that allows it to communicate via GSM, CDMA or TDMA with differing SMS centers. Also, the same user name and password that is used on the corporate LAN can be used to authenticate MobileLogic.Phone users.

INAdvance from American Management Systems is a prepaid solution that offers WAP-enabled self-care. This interface allows prepaid customers to review call charges, reload their balances, transfer their balances to other prepaid services or consult a CSR. Features include convergent capabilities, centralized balance management, support for unique market segmentation, customer-loyalty programs and Web-based customer self-care, GPRS rating and processing capabilities, and technology platform independence. INAdvance also allows seamless management of different prepaid technologies.

Praesidium E-Security from Hewlett-Packard secures wireless transactions such as banking and stock trading. Integrated with VirtualVault and WAP servers from Tantau and Nokia, the solution connects application databases to mobile users. The portfolio includes Web-server platforms, Web authorization managers, virtual private networks and firewalls.

Infinite Technologies' WAPlite Corporate WAP Server, version 1.1, enables mobile access to e-mail, and other Internet and private intranet services. Using WMLScript, HTTP cookies and WTLS, WAPlite supports WAP version 1.1 applications and content. The server was designed to work with such WAP devices as the Nokia 7110, Ericsson R320 and Motorola Timeport P7389 phones.

Motorola offers a WAP server-system configuration that allows providers to manage their subscriber databases. The gateway servers are rack-mounted and are fully NEBS Level-1 compliant. Hotelguide.com's WAP hotel content is an international hotel directory available in seven different languages and accessible from any Ericsson, Nokia or Phone.com WAP phone. Hotelguide.com offers secure online reservations, hotel information, photos and interactive mapping. In addition to listings in the United States and Europe, Hotelguide.com features listings for Latin America and Asia. Once a hotel is selected, the window displays price range and contact information. When ready to make a reservation, hitting the "call now" button directly connects the user to the hotel reservation desk.

Lucent's Mobile Internet Gateway (MIG) server accepts client application access and provides common third-party application programming functionality. In order to keep information secure, the mobile subscriber does not directly interface to the MIG. Instead, users first communicate with a client application. The client application then interfaces to the MIG in order to retrieve or update appropriate subscriber-related infrastructure data.

Ztango.com's WAP/SMS gateway supports open standards and formats found in today's SMS world as well as WAP. Its architecture houses a generic messaging server that interfaces with an SMS-C to run traditional SMS-based services. With this architecture, legacy systems are able to run SMS applications in parallel with newer WAP applications, eventually porting those applications to WAP-enabled devices.
