Delta Products As part of its ES-3000 series, the company offers the Base Station Power System, the Base Station Power Plant and the Mini-Profile Power System.

The Base Station Power System monitors batteries, environmental conditions and the condition of the power system. When it detects conditions threatening the network, it immediately responds, alerts you via RS-232 interface and sends a message so you can resolve the condition quickly.

The Base Station Power System consists of ESR series switchmode rectifier modules rated at -48Vdc/50A or +24Vdc/100A, shelf-mounted in a standard 23-inch rack. The system can be equipped with up to 12 ESR series rectifier modules having a total capacity of 600A at -48Vdc or 1,200A at +24Vdc.

The ES-3000 Base Station Power Plant is a high-density, intelligent power system designed for wireless base stations or remote switching centers where floor space is limited. The Power Plant combines dc distribution, a control and supervisory unit (CSU), ESR series switchmode rectifier, DCS series dc-to-dc converters and room for VRLA standby batteries.

The power plant's CSU monitors the power system, the environment and batteries. The system can be equipped with up to six ESR series rectifier modules having a total capacity of 300A at -48Vdc or 600A at +24Vdc.

The Mini-Profile Power System also offers an intelligent CSU, ESR series rectifiers, optional DCS dc-to-dc converters and a high-density dc distribution panel. Two scaleable systems are available: a compact Mini-Profile Base Station Power System or a smaller Mini-Profile Cell-Site Power System.

The Mini-Profile Base Station power system can be equipped with six ESR series rectifier modules having a total capacity of 300A at -48Vdc or 600A at +24Vdc and optional DCS dc-to-dc converters. The Mini-Profile Cell-Site Power System can be equipped with up to three ESR series rectifier modules having a total capacity of 150A at -48Vdc or 300A at +24Vdc. These units can be mounted in any standard 23-inch rack with space to mount VRLA batteries or in a mini-rack that mounts on top of a string of VRLA batteries.

Hutton Communications Hutton Communications distributes the newly introduced TeleSol Plus, a standalone power system. It is a fully integrated, pre-assembled package that features Siemens Solar photovoltaic panels augmented by a Libby dc Genset and Deka Unigy II batteries. The models can handle continuous loads from 100W to 400W and intermittent loads of up to 720W. The system will work in the standard configuration anywhere in the United States. The hybrid design is a more efficient and reliable combination than a photovoltaic battery-only system.

Hutton also features the absorbed glass mat (AGM) battery from Deka. This 12V, 100Ah battery is the proven Unigy I battery in a new case that features front-access terminals. This allows the battery to be arranged on shelves with tight space requirements while allowing easy access to both terminals. The battery includes epoxy seals around the terminals that ensure leak-proof operation.

For information, call 972-239-0580.

La Marche The company features power conversion equipment, including controlled ferroresonant and modular high-frequency battery charger eliminators, dc-to-ac inverters and customer dc power systems.

The model A76A is a hot- swappable modular rectifier series and CDP combination and alarm panels. Four hot-swappable modular rectifiers fit across in a 23-inch rack. The CDP combination distribution and alarm panels allow a total of 40 load breakers, up to 100A each and up to eight 200A maximum load breakers. A comparable conventional system (using fer-roresonant technology) would require a large floor-mounted charger plus a rack system for the distribution and alarm panels alone.

Up to four 30A/48V or 60A/24V TPM rectifiers fit across in a cage that only takes up to three rack spaces or two TPM rectifiers with a combination distribution and alarm module.

Power Battery Power Battery has introduced its CSL-1280 and CSL-12170 to its Sentry Series VRLA battery line. The 1280 and 12170 batteries are 12V, 80Ah and 170Ah at 8-hour rates respectively. They are designed with the terminals mounted on one end for complete front access. They are supplied complete with buss bars and terminal covers. The front accessibility provides added safety for technicians during installation and maintenance.

The AGM batteries feature a 99.7% pure lead grid alloy, cold forged terminal bushings and copper-inserted terminals. They are built and tested in accordance with the Bellcore requirements. They are supplied with packaging solutions called EZ Packs, which can support up to 1,000Ah requirements in 24Vdc and 48Vdc configurations.

Later this year, Power Battery will introduce its CSL 12100 12V 100Ah batteries. They offer front access and, according to company officials, exhibit three times the thermal efficiencies of a traditional top terminal design. Motorola, Nextel, Nortel and Reltec all currently are using these batteries.

Power Conversion Products The SSD3 is the newest system status monitor and control that the company offers. Installed in the power systems at remote sites, it monitors rectifiers, converters, battery and power distribution boards, and it provides local and remote status and alarm conditions plus some remote control functions. Locally, status is displayed via a series of digital LEDs and a digital meter. Buttons allow selection of the specific function (mode) to be monitored and displayed.

The PS-19 TwinPack Power System is a modular system designed to provide a variety of power outputs for telecommunications loads. The PS-19 will accommodate single- or dual-rectifier or ringing generator modules. The rectifier module will shut down if the output voltage exceeds a preset value adjustable in 0.5V increments. The rectifier will attempt one auto-restart. If the high-voltage condition still exists, the rectifier will latch off. To restart the rectifier from this condition, recycle the input power.

On standard 48Vdc models, the output current is limited automatically to 12.7A from 0 degrees C to +40 degrees C and 10.5A from +41 degrees C to +50 degrees C ambient. The rectifier is shut down if the ambient temperature sensed at the bottom of the mounting shelf reaches 55 degrees C.

Outputs of -48Vdc, +/-24Vdc, or 12Vdc and 90-105V, 20Hzac (ringing) are available. All modules are connectorized and plug in from the front. The backplane circuit boards accept the entire variety of plug-in modules.

The TwinPack Plus offers six rectifier modules. Higher output (3,000W) rectifiers include the following outputs: -48Vdc for 50A, +24Vdc for 100A and -24Vdc for 100A. Lower output (1,500W) rectifiers include the following outputs: -48Vdc for 25A, +24Vdc for 50A, -24Vdc for 50A and 12Vdc for 100A.

Each rectifier is connectorized to plug into a backplane panel. Rectifier modules can be added or replaced in the field while the plant is fully operational. Rectifiers are connected in a forced load-sharing mode.

Reltec Reltec supplies a broad range of capabilities in power connection, protection, enclosures, transmission and testing. Specifically, the company is recognized for its Vortex product line, which is an intelligent power platform. The platform is a comprehensive plug- and-play system of power conversion units and meter-control-alarm microprocessing interfaces to manage your power needs for voice, data and video services.

The Vortex line is a simple building-block design, which allows for growth as your needs increase. No special tools are required to make settings and adjustments. There is a single point for adjustment. The Vortex Link allows you to view, control and interact with the power system from a remote location. The Vortex Manager provides you a quick way to collect, view and display information about your system.

As requirements call for more hostile environmental conditions for your power equipment and batteries, thermal management becomes a key issue. Reltec offers a complete line of batteries and dc-to-dc converters. For battery management, the company provides early detection of thermal runaway to prevent damage to your battery strings. You also can add climate sensors for 60 degrees C, 70 degrees C and 80 degrees C temperature ranges. Lorain's dc-to-dc converters offer flexibility of output voltages, distribution and mounting styles. The converters also provide a current-limiting feature for parallel operation and compact designs for compact rack space.
