NFL Sponsorship Shuffle

Sprint recently ended its 3-year relationship with the National Football League, opting not to renew its position as the NFL's exclusive telecommunications sponsor. Sprint cited plans for focusing on other market segments as its reason for dropping the NFL deal. In turn, the NFL announced future plans to break the exclusive bundle into separate sponsorships, allowing different companies to sponsor one or more of the telecommunications components -- then promptly signed Motorola as official wireless communications sponsor for the next three years. Meanwhile, Sprint will be hanging out with the jocks for a while longer while it finishes the second of its 2-year deal with the Pro Player Stadium in South Florida.
