Information: RECTIFIER MODULEHC Power's series NHS Compac 5x5 high-power density rectifier module delivers 50A at 54V in a modular 5"x5" configuration. Features include a wide range 1-phase input. A built-in isolation diode and true hot-swap design allows fool-proof hot swapping while limiting in-rushcurrent. The front-panel current bar graph and status-monitoring LEDs provide visual status of the rectifier. A single voltage-adjust potentiometer controls the bus voltage, eliminating the need to adjust individual rectifier voltage. Battery temperature compensation and battery equalize are available with compatible peripheral modules.

SIGNALING INTEGRATIONTecore announced the development of voice over IP, SS7/IP signaling integration and asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) uplinks for the company's AirCore Platform switching system. These developments position the AirCore Platform for the current migration of voice and data networks to packet-based communications as well as the evolution of wireless technologies to the third generation.

This switching system integrates IP-based broadband networks and traditional circuit-switched narrowband networks. Carriers now can transport voice, data, and SS7 signaling traffic through IP and ATM networks as well as through traditional T1/E1 circuits. By sending real-time voice, data, and SS7 traffic through data networks such as the corporate LAN, WAN and the Internet, rather than through the traditional PSTN, carriers can decrease communications costs by reducing the circuits needed to support the traffic.

AirCore can support multiple wireless protocols and wireline applications simultaneously. The platform interfaces with all major wireless technologies for cellular and PCS operators, provides a fully integrated prepaid package, and offers tandem switching and wireline services for IXCs and CLECs.

VORTEX POWERYou hear about Vortex and you automatically think of Reltec, right? Check that. These days the company is sporting a new name, Marconi Communications. Marconi showcases its enhancement to its Vortex power system. The Vortex includes a meter-control alarm (MCA) that monitors and controls up to 56 power-conversion units (PCUs) simultaneously. Network operators scroll through a menu, select the parameter affected and set the value. The MCA then distributes the new value to all PCUs in the system. The MCA also displays system inventory information and allows the adjustment of alarm set points. The ability to hot swap modular units and front-access to key components continues to mark the Vortex line.
