Gtran Wireless has enhanced its product offerings to include GPRS
and Wi-Fi. Connecting at speeds greater than 56K, the DotSurfer
CardReader allows customers to connect the DotSurfer PCMCIA modem card
to their desktop computers, and there’s no need for cable, DSL or
phone line. The products allow for high-speed Internet access from any
desktop, laptop or PDA with one Internet service.

Expandable Battery Plant
The Gravitas Ranger 400 computer-telephony integrated power system from
Unipower comes in several versions that are all expandable to meet the
growing needs of small and medium installations. The product has a
maximum output capacity of 400A at 48Vdc or 800A at 24Vdc. It
incorporates up to eight high-density, hot-swap rectifier modules; each
module produces 50A at 54.4Vdc or 100A at 27.2Vdc. They operate from a
170-to-240Vac single or 3-phase power source at 45Hz-65Hz. At slightly
less output current, 350A at 54.4V or 700A at 27.2V, the system can be
operated with N+1 redundancy. The complete system consists of two
rectifier shelves with up to eight rectifier modules, up to six battery
trays, optional ac breakers for each rectifier module, a control and
monitoring system, a low-voltage disconnect and a dc circuit breaker
distribution panel with up to 20 breakers.

Advanced Wireless Mapping
Tierravision has incorporated Geographic Data Technology’s street
data into its Micromap, an advanced wireless mapping product supporting
real-time downloads of map data and content for wireless devices. GDT
will provide the United States and Canadian street information that
allows Tierravision Micromap to display maps and provide geographically
relevant, real-time content over wireless devices running PocketPC,
Palm, J2ME and other operating systems. With the mapping product, users
can find addresses, zoom in and out of specified area and download
real-time information such as highway traffic or weather reports.

Transceiver
The low-latency Zeus wireless spread-spectrum transceiver from RF
Neulink is fast and reliable with a new time of 5.8ms per hop period.
It includes features such as forward-error correction, full-duplex
handshaking and addressability, and is suitable for point-to-point and
point-to-multipoint systems. The transceiver can be used when the need
for reliable low-cost license-free operation is needed. Operating at
speeds up to 19,200kbs, it works for SCADA systems or control of
non-real-time needs such as pumps or motors in oil, gas, water and
waste-water plants.

Telecom Risk Model
Spectrum is a wireless telecommunications risk model from TransUnion
that predicts the likelihood of a wireless account becoming 60 days
delinquent or worse within the next six months. The score ranges from
037-823, where the higher the score, the lower the risk that the
consumer will go 60 or more days past due on the account. The product
is helpful in setting deposit levels, cross and up-selling and risk
management. It can be used when soliciting new wireless accounts.
Whether a prescreen or extract is conducted, Spectrum can be provided
as a standalone criteria or an additional criteria level.

Yagi Antenna
The new enclosed yagi antenna from Antenex is solidly constructed and
cannot be opened or modified by unqualified personnel. This 2.4GHz
antenna has a directional 12.5dBd gain with an outdoor-rated tubular
radome. A heavy aluminum mounting plate ensures long-term
survivability. The rigid laser-cut internal element yields greater
performance than stamped or printed circuit versions, and the antenna
has a VSWR of <2.0:1 from 2.4GHz to 2.48GHz.

Data & Voice Modem
The CDM-810 from SeMax Wireless is a dual-band, tri-mode RS-232 data
and voice modem for CDMA wireless technology providing real-time data
transmission within a small, rugged package. Also included is the
built-in 14.4kb/s TCP/IP asynchronous, class 2.0 digital fax. The unit
operates like a landline computer modem for data-ready CDMA systems.
The modem also is designed for use with an ear microphone for voice
communication, allowing for preprogrammed numbers and 911 calls. The
SeMax engineering team has created an automatic vehicle location (AVL)
software package for the CDM-810 that, when connected to the Garmin
GPS-35, provides an easy-to-install AVL solution for cellular and PCS
networks that support 2-way SMS messaging.

MDS/MMDS Diplexer
Model 14135 diplexer from Microwave Filter combines MMDS transmit and
MDS receive frequencies on a single line while providing mutual
isolation for MDS from MMDS transmit and wireless phone interference.
The diplexer offers less than 1dB insertion loss with a VSWR of 1.35:1
(receive) and 1.2:1 (transmit). The unit provides mutual isolation of
80dB (minimum) at the receive port and 85dB (minimum) at the transmit
port. The diplexer is configured with type N (female), 50W connectors
as a standard.

RF Design Software
SoftWright’s Version 4.4 of the Terrain Analysis Package (TAP)
for Windows consists of 24 modules that combine to bring a broad
compatibility of RF-system design to the PC. The most fundamental
module is the Basic Mapping Module, which handles the path terrain
profiling work. For more sophisticated RF studies, add the RF
Facilities Module and one or more of the additional 22
application-specific Version 4.4 modules. TAP is used to perform
evaluation of existing or proposed radio transmitter sites and radio
coverage predictions.

RF Lightning Protection
The AirGuard line of RF lightning protection from Atlantic Scientific
includes a wideband 870MHz to 2,000MHz, quarterwave stub that provides
easy migration to new frequencies. The line also includes economical
narrowband quarterwave stub technology to protect cellular, PCS and
trunking applications, as well as gas tube protectors for dc to 4GHz
applications. The protectors are sealed, weatherproof, rugged and
available in all popular connector styles, including F connectors. For
GPS, MMDS and LMDS broadband applications, the solid-state dc models
provide low surge let-through voltage.
