Enhanced Memory Capabilities
To bring Internet functionality to your customers' handsets, you need Intel's flash data integrator (FDI) 3.0 software that provides 3G applications. FDI's application-programmers interface supports data streams for voice recording and downloads from a packet-data network.
The packet-data interface allows storage of downloaded data from packet protocols such as Bluetooth, GPRS and CDPD. The media-manager feature handles power-failure recovery and flash-data block wear leveling to increase cycling endurance and variable code and data partition sizes. Data is temporarily stored in a user-supplied buffer for real-time capture.
FDI then performs the flash write operation in the background to actually store the information in the flash.

Universal Wireless Web Access
Universal access to the Internet from wireless phones is possible with JZ Link's Automated Trans-coding on Markup Language (ATOMS). ATOMS reformats existing HTML Web pages so that they are presentable on the small displays of wireless devices. It then translates the reformatted HTML to WML and Voice XML, allowing Internet-enabled wireless phones to access all HTML pages.
A customization tool built into ATOMS enables users to select specific sections of the HTML page for display on the wireless device.
In addition, the company has introduced Voicer, which allows users to browse HTML pages by phone. Using voice or keypad commands, Voicer delivers the content to the display of the wireless device. Voicer brings Web audio to all wireless devices.

Internet Access
For high-speed Internet connections on your customer's wireless devices, Swiftcomm from Mitsubishi Materials features two distinct network offerings: Swiftcomm N. (narrowband) offers a wider coverage area per base station and enables bit-error-free transmissions to users in dense metropolitan areas and when traveling at high speeds; Swiftcomm W. (wide-band) creates a computing environment with data speeds five times faster than 3G projections.
The narrowband offering provides nationwide coverage for SMS, text-to-voice conversion and voice-recognition applications. The Swiftcomm network is composed of base stations, servers and wireless devices, which perform IP-based routing functions.

Diagnostics Monitor
Over-the-air (OTA) data logging and data-playback test solutions can be accomplished using the InfoDM v2.0 from Spirent Communications. The diagnostic tool provides logging, monitoring and control capability for CDMA handsets and terminals.
OTA message logging has been improved with the addition of a turbo-mode for high-volume logging, expanded message decoding and message bookmarking. The phone-status function shows real-time display of these parameters: finger energy, access/paging/layer2 message statistics, frame-error rate, call state and vocoder rates.
With the embedded tool-command-language interpreter, users can write automated and interactive test cases. The monitor's data-analysis capabilities offer a playback feature that allows graphical and tabular viewing and evaluation of logged CDMA data. The playback feature allows the data to be reviewed in a forward or reverse mode.

Dual-Polarized Antenna
For areas constrained by space issues or planning restrictions, Andrew's PerforMax dual-polarized antenna offers coverage in GSM 1800, PCS and 3G frequency bands and provides wideband performance over the 1.71GHz to 2.17GHz frequency band. It features a mechanical mount that provides continuous downtilt adjustment to 12 degrees. The antenna's wraparound radome can be painted to blend in with local surroundings.

Information Router
Providing customers with bi-directional access to e-mail, corporate databases and Web-based information from their mobile phones or other portable communications devices is possible with Xiam's information router suite. The router enables GSM-wireless-phone users to change and/or update the information on servers via SMS, and gives them the option of having messages read out to them upon receipt by a synthetic voice. The product's flexibility makes it possible to send back SMS commands, or to query databases and elicit a response remotely to a cellular phone. Its applications give users the capability to check bank balances, book a show, update in-house customer information or avert a systems failure using any mobile phone. Access is achieved via a Web interface, and users can configure their profiles without the use of special SIM cards in users' handsets.

Base Station
Advanced Communications Technologies and Platforms Wireless International have deployed an airborne version of SpectruCell, a software-defined radio base station for an aero-stat-based communications platform. It is designed to support multiple protocols including CDMA, GSM and future 3G applications that will allow carriers the ability to upgrade their existing networks without the addition of ground fiber.
By using the SpectruCell multiple-protocol base station, you'll be able to support all current and future protocols with the same equipment on the same network. Although it has been designed as a network solution that uses spectrum-efficient point-to-point radio as the main link between cell sites and switching centers, it also supports transmissions between the cells using fiber optic and standard microwave links.
The system provides functionality for the TDMA communications protocol; however, the software-defined-radio platform of Spectru-Cell enables the airborne-relay communications system to process multiple protocols by adding protocol-specific software modules. SpectruCell also allows for the provision of advanced wireless communications services without specific protocol limitations, facilitating the penetration and expansion of rural, emerging-nation and under-served global markets without existing land-based infrastructure.
