The FieldCentrix FX Enterprise Software automates field service
operations. The processes that can be automated include communication
between field techs and the office, work assignments, work orders,
invoice and payroll. The software also features electronic signature
capture, street maps and repair records. Through the FX Central W-ASP
program, enterprise customers gain access to FX Enterprise Software, as
well as database and system-management tools to monitor and tune the
system. FX Central also features 24-hour monitoring, firewalls,

Nortel Networks’ Wireless Field Service and Logistics solution
extends Nortel’s eFrontOffice CRM solution to improve the
efficiency and productivity of field service personnel. Using the
solution, a field service rep can access the corporate Web site to
check recent dispatch information with a WAP-enabled phone. The user
then has mobile access to real-time inventory data, customer accounts
and case information. Work schedules also can be re-assigned using the
solution, which supports multiple carriers and devices.

Mobile Workforce Management
IMedion’s iM:Work 2.0 is a Web-based software suite that allows
field service organizations to increase efficiency with mobile
solutions. IM:Work includes a number of modules. IM:Optimizer allows
users to optimize work schedules against work backlogs by suggesting
the most efficient schedule and then dispatching crews to those jobs.
IM:Analyzer is a results-management tool that consolidates field
service data from many systems and provides quantitative measures of
success. IM:Portal is an XML toolkit that allows the iM:Work suite to
interface with other enterprise IT systems. The software supports any

Clickability’s Save This Wireless is a Web-content collection
and organization tool that allows users to convert and deliver articles

Mobile’s mobile portal solutions create Search Anywhere, a
unified search and navigation platform. The platform indexes current
wireless-document formats and recognizes the different capabilities of

broad spectrum of Internet-capable devices such as PCs, mobile phones,

Mobile App Server
Everypath’s Mobile App Server gives companies an in-house
platform on which to convert information — including HTML, XML,
legacy apps, databases and Web content — into mobile apps.
Broadband and voice have been incorporated into the server, allowing it
to service everything from devices with no display to interactive TV.
The server is a Java-based, multithreaded platform that uses XML. It
incorporates services such as alerts, wireless advertising,
location-aware technology and off-line capabilities, as well as tools

Mobile Manager
Microsoft announces the availability of Microsoft Outlook Mobile
Manager, a PC app that extends the power, reach and functionality of
Microsoft Outlook to a wide variety of wireless devices.
Mobile Manager allows users to filter and prioritize e-mail
notifications. The software employs technologies such as artificial
intelligence, natural language processing and custom-izable priority
profiles. Although it can operate as a standalone desktop application,
Mobile Manager provides users with increased functionality when used in
conjunction with Mobile Information 2001 Ser-ver; it also will be
integrated with the upcoming release of Office XP (the newest version
of Microsoft’s suite of productivity tools and programs), due for
release in late spring.

Image Manipulation
Simplylook announces Mobile Image, its software for serving optimized
interactive images to wireless devices. Mobile Image allows users
of wireless devices to retrieve images from the wireless Web and zoom
in/out, pan around and access additional information linked to the
image.
The software is capable of streaming only the data required to
support the user’s request. The software uses just-in-time image
delivery. Apps of interactive images include photographs linked to
other information such as maintenance instructions or driving
directions; drawings of floor plans for purchasing real estate or
determining room dimensions; maps overlaid with information on traffic
accidents, hotels and restaurants; real-time stock charts with links to
news and buy/sell functions; and the ability to view e-mail
attachments, presentations, word-processing documents and database
applications.

Multiplayer Games
Digital Bridges features the Unity technology platform, a
device-independent development system that allows developers to create
games that will work across all handsets and devices as well as
existing network technologies and operating systems.
This is tied into a network of host servers, which are being rolled
out into key territories. The company hosts the content and localizes
it for its customers, thus allowing subscribers in different
territories, using different devices, on different networks, playing
multiplayer games against each other — all in different

wireless version of the site. Clickmarks has created a system that
automatically does the conversion, making it easier to send information
via a range of devices.

Buzztime is a producer and broadcaster of interactive trivia quiz
shows and “play-along” sports games. The company currently
has been offering games on the Sprint PCS network. Just 49 days after
its launch, more than 120,000 subscribers played quiz games using
Sprint’s network. The company offers entertainment, sports and
general trivia quiz game shows. Sprint subscribers have averaged 5
minutes online per visit.

RealNames’ Wireless Keyword Navigation System allows subscribers
to access Web sites by typing in names of companies, brand names or
product categories. It provides faster access to wireless Web content

reduces the required entry to a few characters. RealNames’ system
supports character sets from many languages.

interfaces to support it. The company encourages third-party software
developers and carriers to integrate the @Road location, information
and communication capabilities into their offerings.

Drug-Interaction Information
EPhysician’s A to Z Drug Facts with Facts and Comparisons is an
app that allows doctors to access real-time information on 3,000 drugs
and 26 therapeutic classes. The app features a menu-driven interface to
its database. Users can search for a drug by generic or brand name or
by therapeutic class. Information is available on drug warnings,
interactions and dosing. EPhysician also offers ePad, a prescription
app that electronically sends prescriptions to pharmacies.

WAP Solution
The WAP Product Suite from RTS Wireless includes the Advantage WAP
gateway, WAP app server and WAP apps such as e-mail, contacts and
bookmarks. The gateway provides subscribers with access to the Internet
and corporate information systems. The server is a scaleable and
flexible development environment for deploying WAP apps. The WAP apps
offered by RTS, which include e-mail, contacts and favorites, are
designed to work with existing accounts and can be configured from the
device or from a Web-page interface. An administrative app allows for
