AnyDevice’s GoAnywhere E-mail+ is a turnkey software solution that allows enterprises to deploy mobile access to e-mail, calendar and contact management apps on both Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino systems. Users have mobile access to public and private mail folders and can read, respond, forward or delete messages. Bar Code/Card Scanners
Apriva’s M500 Magcard reader and B500I Bar code scanner connect to RIM wireless hand-held devices and allow users to read bar codes, magnetic data stripes on credit cards and smart cards. The M500 scans a variety of cards with barcodes and magnetic stripes. That information then is transmitted via an Infrared Data (IrDA) port to IrDA-enabled printers. The B500I scans any of 40 different types of 1D bar codes. Both lightweight devices attach to the bottom of the RIM hand-held. The peripherals operate on a variety of networks, including the Motient wireless data network. Motient and Apriva announced a partnership agreement in early April.

BlueKite’s software for the Pocket PC transforms wireless data throughput of 19.2kb/s into an experience equal to or better than a 56kb/s. BlueKite’s technology delivers a faster Web-browsing experience through caching and compression algorithms that reduce unnecessary data transmissions over wireless networks. Users can access the Internet, intranet or Web-based apps such as e-mail, SFA and CRM with BlueKite software on a mobile device. Interactive Maps
Maporama and AvantGo jointly provide interactive maps and itineraries to PDA and WAP users via AvantGo’s free wireless Internet service. Users can access Maporama’s worldwide maps, in both country and street-level detail, plus city-to-city and door-to-door itinerary services. A free AvantGo browser is either pre-installed on users’ wireless handsets or downloaded from www.avantgo.com. Users then create their own personal accounts and select the Maporama services they require. They then can access Maporama’s geocentric information wirelessly and in real time via the GSM network or upload maps via a PC.

Network Appliance and Openwave Systems have teamed to deliver a collaborative messaging solution, Openwave E-mail Mx, that combines Openwave’s messaging products with NetApp storage solutions. Openwave and Network Appliance are collaborating to ensure the highest degree of data-storage reliability and performance of their combined solution. Carriers that must contend with large volumes of messaging data will benefit from a scaleable platform, readily available to support millions of users and their messaging requirements. Because of its open architecture, Openwave E-mail Mx can incorporate large volumes of Internet e-mail, voice mail, fax mail and other emerging messaging technologies as carriers evolve and expand their offerings to include unified messaging services. Openwave E-mail Mx will be the first product of the Openwave Services OS certified for use with the NetApp data storage solution.
