Thanks to Nortel Networks' Succession Interactive Multimedia Server (IMS), subscribers can create personal communications profiles that are portable, providing the flexibility to be reached anywhere, anytime, through any device and over any network. They can log on to the network from any phone for access to the same services available from their homes or offices. A personal call manager will direct incoming calls to a business, home, wireless phone, PDA or other communications device based on user-specified criteria such as caller and time of day. Succession IMS will support 3GPP open services architecture specifications.

WiredPocket's WP.AutoMapping 1.1 has a server-based intelligent engine that analyzes, summarizes, prioritizes and delivers Web information to any Internet-based mobile device. Its component, the PocketDesigner, is a PC-based wizard that lets companies select specific mobile Web information. Content owners can create customized profiles, overriding the engine's automatic Web-to-Web wireless process. WP.Auto-Mapping 1.1 also offers form and cookie management, SSL and user-verification support for secure wireless transactions and graphical image display on compatible devices.

Mobile PC

AirSpeak's Flair is a PC-access device that allows immediate mobile access to information from a desktop PC. Using the 802.11b wireless standard, Flair operates over LANs and WLANs. Combining security, mobility and instant access, the Flair device uses a touch screen to access personalized information that resides on PCs. Using Flair-view, the device provides a mirror image of the desktop, giving users the ability to access, manipulate and create documents on their PCs. Flair operates and displays the user's PC without transferring files. Third-party VPN and encryption software can be used and includes the security of the physical, link and network layers.

Mobile Law Enforcement App

Aether Systems' PocketBlue is a wireless hand-held app for law enforcement that ensures all personnel are integrated into an agency's mobile data system. All connected users are provided with real-time data access, silent and secure communication and system-wide alarms. Pocket-Blue extends mobile data and communication to out-of-vehicle personnel on the Palm Vx, RIM 950 and 957, and Symbol's SPT 1733 hand-held computer. The devices operate over a CDPD or Mobitex wireless network. Detectives and patrol officers can access the National Crime Information Center, National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System and department of motor vehicles databases securely to check the status of vehicles, persons, articles and guns without involving dispatch. A match to a wanted person or object sends a system-wide alarm to all users and dispatch personnel. Check out the SchlumbergerSema multi-access portal platform, Sema-Portal SMPP server. For carriers that plan to deploy m-commerce and value-added services, the SemaPortal SMPP server makes use of common protocols such as SMPP and SMTP but allows carriers to use other protocols through an app programming interface.

Enhanced features include billing identification based on message types and statistical reports on message traffic.
