Mixed Video Signals

Wireless users have a pretty low impression of new mobile steaming services, according to new research by Advanis, but that same research firm found indications that consumers could warm to the prospect quickly. In a direct survey of wireless users, Advanis found that only 13% said they would be interested in watching a video clip on their phones. But in an analysis of those same consumers' preferences for different mobile handsets, Advanis found that those same users were much more likely to buy a phone with video-streaming capabilities. Consumers may not be willing to go out and buy a video-streaming service today, but many of them seem to be acknowledging that the feature could be something they would be interested in further down the road, said Dave Cosgrave, managing analyst of Media Metrics, a wireless research program within Advanis.
