Briefing Room

We know that you are assaulted with more than 3,000 messages daily. Many information sources seek to dissolve all complexity by delivering shorter bits of information. Although there is a place for this type of headline news-gathering, we believe we must provide vehicles that help you make sense out of all of the bits and bytes by providing context and analysis.

Wireless Review is uniquely devoted to these informational needs for all wireless service providers and their organizations. It provides technology, engineering, operational, maintenance and sales and marketing intelligence for use to promote network innovation, market development and industry evolution.

Delivering the Goods Twice a month, we will address major features along three feature tracks and deliver high-caliber editorial information. Those three tracks are network issues, on-site intelligence and revenue-management strategies. In addition to the three tracks, we are introducing four new focus areas: "WIN Services," "T&M," "Sales Channels" and "Protocols."

* "WIN Services" will highlight the latest need-to-know advice relating to your wireless intelligent network construction and service offerings.

* "T&M" focuses on test and measurement basics as well as state-of-the-art tips and suggestions from the experts.

* "Sales Channels" will keep you up to speed on the latest phone and aftermarket products as well as the challenges they present for your distribution channels.

* "Protocols" will balance the latest in standards developments with the realities of technology and applications, with the emphasis on what is working in the market.

Each issue also will analyze key news events as well as cover trend-setting new product developments. From our editorial staff, we will provide you editorial commentaries on industry trends, events and miscues in our "Views" column. In "Final View," respected industry leaders will comment on their views of the wireless world from where they sit. As a bonus, each issue also will offer "Hot Sheet," a feature held over from WirelessWorld, in which we take a sometimes tongue-in-cheek and often-humorous look at industry events and personalities.

Our challenge for ourselves is to bring you the most current, thought-provoking intelligence in all things wireless. To accomplish this, we nearly have doubled our journalistic staff and enlisted editorial assistance from highly qualified journalists in the field. These representatives will be the "ears" of our magazine, listening to you for important information. Our collective mission is to seek and uncover the stories behind the stories, the information that you need to know.

Finally, we have designed the magazine so that the intelligence that we gather is inviting to read and easy to use on the job.

Although this first issue is the culmination of many months of planning, research and industry discussion about what you, our valued readers, have said you wanted and needed, it is but the beginning of a new conversation with you.

If you have intelligence about an application, a technique, a development or a trend that makes your job and your company more worthwhile, more profitable or more cutting edge, let us hear from you. The intelligence you share today could provide a successful blueprint for your industry peers tomorrow.
