Agilent Technologies' end-to-end connection-testing application for 3G wireless networks enables equipment manufacturers and carriers to verify interoperability between the multi-vendor network elements required for delivery of advanced 3G wireless services, such as high-speed mobile Internet access.
The test software, included in the Agilent 3G test system, captures and analyzes the exchange of control-plane messages between each network element, verifies end-to-end connection or permits users to isolate specific areas of connection failure. This allows developers of different network elements to find and resolve sources of potential failure in their labs in advance of field trials and deployment.

ArrayComm has an agreement with Marconi Mobile SpA to develop 3G (WCDMA) wireless infrastructure for UMTS. The combination will offer performance gains and cost benefits that may reshape the 3G landscape.
Unlike traditional radio technologies used in 2G cellular systems that broadcast the same signal during the entire wireless call to connect sender and receiver, ArrayComm's IntelliCell software enables “smart antennas” to direct signals to and from individual users. This approach mitigates radio interference that causes dropped calls and poor service and increases the number of subscribers that can be served in a fixed amount of radio spectrum.

The high-capacity 3G CDMA BTS from Samsung supports up to 648 channel elements in a single rack, providing room for growth. Additional channel elements are added by remote software download, eliminating an on-site visit. Samsung's open, standards-based architecture supports both 2G and 3G CDMA standards. The 3G equipment is both backward-compatible with existing cdmaOne mobile stations and forward-compatible with next-generation cdma2000 1X technology.
