Sprint will offer Sybase's mobile apps to the financial services, insurance, health care, government and education sectors. Sybase's apps, developed by subsidiary iAnywhere Solutions, are designed to help companies mobilize corporate data or develop custom apps for their mobile workforces.

U.S. Wireless Online has agreed to acquire fellow broadband wireless Internet provider United Broadband Networks, which operates broadband wireless networks in the Louisville and Lexington, Ky., markets. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Cingular Wireless completed its $120 million buildout in Kentucky, southern Indiana and Tennessee, which included 160 new cell sites. The carrier also installed 170 new GSM/EDGE cell sites in Texas and is nearing completion of its $33 million network buildout in southern Florida.
Verizon Wireless announced plans to spend $1 billion on its Florida networks by the end of 2005, following $220 million in spending in 2004. The carrier said it is focusing on Florida because of the state's population growth.
Canadian-based service provider Rogers Communications has acquired 93.5% of the Class B Restricted Voting shares of Rogers Wireless Communications held by the public. Rogers Communications now holds enough of its wireless subsidiary to take the company private.
Verizon Wireless will distribute the messaging and enterprise data software of Good Technology to its business customers. The GoodLink service offers the ability to push Microsoft Exchange e-mail, contacts and calendar to the PalmOne Treo 600.
