Proxim's WORPed Idea

From a product named after a Venezuelan river, a Tsunami was born. Proxim designed the Tsunami MP.11, a point-to-multipoint Wi-Fi wide area network product, to act as an outdoor extension for enterprise campuses or residential environments. It unites the legacy Orinoco product (named for the aforementioned river) the company acquired from Lucent Technologies last year with Proxim's own Wireless Outdoor Router Protocol (WORP). The addition of WORP creates a base station and terminal architecture that provides up to 40% more bandwidth than the Orinoco platform at 60% less cost in a total system configuration. The Tsunami MP.11 supports up to 100 users, and also can be used for voice/data backhaul, last-mile access, and security and surveillance applications. The MP.11 products can be remotely configured, eliminating the need for service provider truck rolls. They also can be deployed with existing Orinoco LAN offerings to create complete WAN/LAN coverage. www.proxim.com
