Central to the catalog is a simplified process for installing apps on the network. Qualified Synapps applications generate a digital App Key issued by Sylantro. The key will help track real-time use of the application – accessible to service providers via then new Synapps Dashboard – and also facilitate the provisioning of the application onto the carrier network and back-office infrastructure.

Sylantro believes its end-to-end Synapps environment – from developer tools to catalog to app provisioning key and usage dashboard – provides the missing link that enables developer innovation while ensuring that service providers are comfortable with the service deployment process, said Andhare.

“Service providers can create and deploy niche applications that can really impact users, especially small businesses,” he said. “This lets them move beyond the game of cost cutting and containment and move toward enhancing productivity—and getting users to pay an extra fee per month for those applications.”

In addition to the new pieces of the Synapps environment, Sylantro this week announced a deal with recent BT acquisition Ribbit to integrate the Ribbit Platform with Sylantro’s Synergy Platform and Synapps Web Services. When Ribbit was acquired by BT last month, Ribbit execs made a point of saying it would work to integrate its development platform and applications with other app platforms as well.

Sylantro also announced a new hosting option for its core Synergy voice over IP platform in partnership with Amazon.com’s EC2 hosting service, making its voice and Web apps deployable in a “cloud-style” hosting environment.
