In addition to its performance increases as an SBC, in a multiservice gateway configuration the 4500 supports 512,000 IPsec tunnels for backhauling SIP or GSM traffic, a 300% increase over the 4250. As a session routing proxy, the 4500 supports 2 million local routing rules, a 100% increase over the 4250.

Acme said the increased performance and larger processing capacities of the Net-Net 4500 are made possible by a more powerful host processor, more system memory, higher capacity content addressable memory and higher speed secure services module (SSM) for IPsec and TLS.

Network interface unit (NIU) modules on the system offer a variety of copper and fiber interfaces at speeds up to 1000 Mb/s. It also features redundant load-sharing 300-watt power supplies, including a new power supply subsystem that consumes less power, offering lower operating expenditures and a more eco-friendly footprint, Acme said.
