Boingo Wireless grows south of the border

Boingo Wireless announced Monday the launch of more than 250 new Wi-Fi hot spots in Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara and other travel destinations thanks to an agreement with Prodigy Móvil, the Wi-Fi and Internet subsidiary of Mexican carrier Telmex.

The new additions to the Boingo Roaming System include more than 20 airports, along with hotels, shopping centers, restaurants and similar tourist-oriented destinations across 40 different Mexican cities. Each hot spot is accessible to Boingo subscribers and users of select Platform Services partners EarthLink, Fiberlink Communications, Infonet Services Corp., MCI and Telecom Italia.

Boingo’s network now includes more than 9000 hot spots worldwide, including about 6300 throughout Europe, Asia and Latin America.
