Boingo now lists 2600 hot spots as part of its roaming service, about 1400 of which are operating live while the rest are in the process of being set up over the next 90 days, the company said. Updates are sent through Boingo’s sniffer software as the new sites go live.
“Wi-Fi is racing toward ubiquitous coverage in high-traffic areas, and the growth of our roaming system--more than doubling thus far in 2003 – reflects that momentum,” said Dave Hagan, president of Boingo Wireless in a statement issued by the company. “Every time we bring on new locations, the Boingo roaming system becomes more valuable to our major carrier customers, our hot spot operator partners, and most importantly, to the rapidly growing community of users that depend upon Wi-Fi.”
STSN offers wireline Ethernet access and Wi-Fi coverage in more than 565 hotels in North America, Europe, and Asia, which include more than 170,000 guest rooms and 5000 meeting and conference rooms.
“STSN is an important partner because they are among the largest and fastest-growing providers of Wi-Fi connectivity for hotels, which is where business travelers want to connect when away from the office.” Hagan said.
