Yipes Communications late yesterday announced that Jerry Parrick would step down as CEO and be replaced by current Chief Operating Officer Dennis Muse, who will assume leadership of the company’s day-to-day operations. Sources within the company said Yipes’ board of directors decided several months ago the company’s business was too complex for Parrick to operate on a daily basis while continuing as the company’s face with the investor community. Last week’s Chapter 11 filing accelerated the transition to Muse, who over the last two years took over faltering entities in ReFlex and iAsiaWorks, only to have them both run out of cash.

Muse has more than 20 years experience in telecom, including a stint as president of the telecom division at MCI WorldCom.

In other news, Jonathan Marshall, Yipes’ senior director of public relations, has left the company.
