Xtera gets $30 million more

Xtera Communications, which sells Raman-based dense wavelength-division multiplexing systems for long-haul and ultralong-haul networks, has closed a $30-million round of funding. Existing investors provided the majority of the new funds, according to the company. The new round brings the firm’s total funding to date to $163 million. Prior to the latest round, Xtera announced a $110-million second round in January 2001 led by Rho Ventures and Star Ventures Management. Xtera’s investors roster contains 10 companies in all, including Sevin Rosen Funds, New Enterprise Associates, Centerpoint Ventures and ComVentures.
