WorldCom profits fall

WorldCom Group reported a 64 percent decline in net income for the fourth quarter of $258 million. In the same quarter of 2000, the company reported net income of $725 million.

Revenue for the fourth quarter of 2001 came in at $5.3 billion, a 7 percent increase from the fourth quarter of 2000. On a segment basis, international operations grew the most, posting a 23 percent year-over-year gain to $768 million. As expected, the company’s voice revenues continue to decline, coming in at $1.6 billion, a drop of 8 percent from the fourth quarter of 2000.
