More Wind Power Blows into California

PG&E Corp.'s National Energy Group will acquire, at commercial operation, a 44.4-megawatt wind power facility. The facility, in the San Gorgonio Pass of Riverside County, Calif., will be purchased from Seawest WindPower Inc. The project, called Mountain View Power Partners, is expected to enter commercial operation in the spring of 2001.

The facility will consist of 74 Mitsubishi Heavy Industries MWT600 wind turbine generators. Each generator is capable of producing 600-kilowatts of electricity, for a total of 44.4 megawatts of power, about enough to meet the needs of 25,000 homes.
