Western Multiplex launches high-capacity system

Western Multiplex has launched a point-to-multipoint, fixed-wireless Ethernet system that it says offers 60 M/bps per base station in 5.8 GHz U-NII [unlicensed national information infrastructure] spectrum.

The so-called Tsunami Multipoint system allows campus environments such as corporations, hospitals and schools to connect networks between buildings.

Western Multiplex said the system offers as much as 60 M/bps per base station and as many as six base stations per hub site, supporting more than 6,000 subscriber units per hub site over an 8-mile radius.
