VoiceStream Q2 revenue flat, EBITDA doubles

The U.S. arm of Deutsche Telekom’s mobile subsidiary, which includes operations from VoiceStream and Powertel sold under the VoiceStream brand, yesterday reported second quarter revenues of $1.3 billion, up slightly from the $1.2 billion it recorded in the previous quarter.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization more than doubled sequentially, rising to $156 million from $75 million. Voicestream’s total customer base grew by 52,900, giving the company more than 8 million subscribers.

VoiceStream’s quarterly report with the SEC, which does not include Powertel, was also filed yesterday. Total revenues for VoiceStream alone were $1.14 billion, resulting in a net loss of $296.2 million for the quarter.

Powertel is no longer required to file its results with the SEC.
