Verizon and Microsoft form broadband team

Verizon Communications and Microsoft today announced they will be teaming to offer consumer-grade high-speed Internet access with Web content under the name Verizon Online DSL with MSN.

The venture, which will begin offering service early next year, pairs Verizon’s DSL service in its home territory with MSN content. Each company will handle billing, depending on which one a customer signs up through. Existing Verizon DSL customer will be given the option to sign up for the service, but they won’t be required to. New customers will automatically be given MSN for their home page.
