USTA, Bells for stay of Triennial Review order

The U.S. Telecom Association, Verizon Communications, BellSouth, SBC Communications and Qwest Communications today jointly filed a petition with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit that asks the court to delay the implementation of the FCC’s Triennial Review order issued last month. Last week, the petitioners had asked the FCC to delay implementation of the order, pending court review. The RBOCs and several competitive carriers are challenging the order on a variety of issues. The USTA said today’s petition was filed because the FCC had failed to act on the previous request. “Unfortunately, the FCC appears unwilling to place a hold on ill-conceived and unlawful regulations,” said Lawrence Sarjeant, USTA’s vice president-law and general counsel.
