Time Warner Telecom slashes 11% of workforce

Time Warner Telecom, a commercial phone and data services company partly owned by AOL Time Warner, said it will cut 230 jobs – nearly 11% of its workforce – to save money and internally fund operations.

After the layoffs, Time Warner Telecom said it would have about 1900 employees and might add workers in certain areas to support future growth.

The company recently posted a second quarter loss based on lower revenues and has, like most competitive providers, been damaged by the slumping economy.
