TeleCorp licenses Agilent’s OSS solution

For end-to-end service and network management of its growing personal communications service network, TeleCorp PCS has licensed Agilent Technologies’ NETeXPERT-based operations support system (OSS) solution, giving Agilent a new customer in the process. TeleCorp PCS, AT&T Wireless’ largest affiliate, will now manage its multivendor, multidomain networks from a single system, providing customers with increased network availability, more efficient operations, and improved troubleshooting capabilities. “The functionality, the flexibility that we have with NETeXPERT really gives a customer like TeleCorp PCS the ability to run their operation as cost effectively and efficiently as possible,” said Jack Trautman, vice president and general manager of Agilent’s OSI division. Agilent expects to have NETeXPERT fully integrated by September. “Every one of our customers has legacy systems of one kind or another,” Trautman said. “The ability of customers like TeleCorp PCS to integrate into their existing systems and do that quickly, not take years, but months to get up and running was really key to them.” Agilent purchased what is now its OSI division in November 2000. Formerly Objective Systems Integrators, Agilent’s OSI division provides OSS software for communications service providers.
