Sprint catches up to competition with Intercarrier Messaging

Like AT&T Wireless, Cingular and VoiceStream before it, Sprint announced that its wireless customers would be able to send text messages to mobile phones operating on other carriers’ networks beginning April 1.

Via Sprint’s PCS Short Mail service and a feature called Intercarrier Messaging, wireless customers will be able to send Web-based messages to customers of other operators.

This service will expand upon Sprint’s Short Mail service, which lets customers send new messages or choose from a list of pre-set messages to other Sprint PCS customers.
