The Short Messaging Service SMPP (Short Message Peer to Peer) Developers Forum will give application developers a platform to try out new services while giving carriers a chance to direct their requirements to a large group of developers.

Currently the forum is being sponsored by InphoMatch, though the company said it wants to draw others into the discussion.

“We want to encourage people to develop specifically for the SMS environment,” said Colin Matthews, president and CEO of InphoMatch. “It’s in our interest to get as many messages going through our gateways as possible.”
