Scientific-Atlanta slashes Mexican operations

Cable TV equipment vendor Scientific-Atlanta, stung by losses stemming from the ongoing Adelphia financial debacle and a general slowdown in cable TV business, has discontinued the third production shift at its Juarez, Mexico, manufacturing facility and eliminated about 1300 positions, or 30% of the facility’s employees.
