Qwest to provide Web hosting for DivXNetworks

Qwest Communications today announced it will serve as the sole dedicated Web-hosting provider for DivXNetworks, which compresses full-length movies into sizes small enough to be delivered over the Internet or stored on a single compact disk.

The multiyear, multimillion-dollar agreement calls for DivXNetworks to co-locate its video-on-demand equipment in several of Qwest’s North American CyberCenters, which sit directly on Qwest’s high-speed fiber-optic network.

Qwest will host the content-enablement platform of DivXNetwork’s Open Video System, which delivers full-screen, DVD-quality video content over IP networks to the customer’s premises.
