Pronto partners with Alvarion

Wi-Fi hot spot OSS developer Pronto Networks said this week it is providing the control and management functions behind Alvarion’s new public hot spot access system, which was formally unveiled about two months ago.

Under a private label agreement, Pronto’s Hotspot Networking System, a management control gateway solution, has been integrated with Alvarion’s BreezeAccess GO turnkey hot spot access point and access controller system, which is designed for network operators and other hot spot builders.

“Traditional hot spot offerings have been hardware focused,” said Pronto CEO Jasbir Singh. “But for many more companies to play on the hot spot market, there will need to be the glue logic between the hardware. Whatever hardware you have, it will need a network operational aspect.”

Singh added that partnering with Israel-based Alvarion will give Pronto, based in Pleasanton, Calif., access to the more international business. “The European public hot spot opportunity is moving a bit faster than the U.S.,” he said.

The BreezeAccess GO platform was announced at the CeBit trade show in Hannover, Germany in March and has been selling across the worldwide since then
