Openwave to power Cox’s messaging platform

As evidence of IP’s ability to blur the lines of transport media, cable operator Cox Communications will use Openwave Systems’ messaging platform, Openwave Email Mx to create and power a single messaging infrastructure for its high-speed broadband Internet customers.

Email Mx is a component of Openwave’s messaging services platform used generally in mobile-wireless systems. Cox will use the platform to service 779,000 residential Internet subscribers with unified messaging, instant message and multimedia messaging service over its broadband wireline networks.
