Nokia announced today it has been named the sole supplier for the GSM network that Viaero Wireless is building to replace its existing CDMA network. Under the terms of the deal, Nokia will supply Viaero with a complete system, including GSM and GPRS core networks, an EDGE-capable radio network and the NetAct network and service management system. The network is expected be operational by early October 2003. Formed from the merger of Cellular One of Northeast Colorado and Nebraska Wireless, Viaero serves a territory of 70,000 square miles across the two states.
