“Anything a carrier can do to reduce fraud is important,” said David West, executive vice president of Equinox. “Carriers are working so hard now to earn those dollars, so we help ensure they keep the dollars they earn and we do it in a cost-effective way.”

Equinox helps NewSouth secure its network’s increasing traffic with real-time fraud monitoring applications and advanced case management of its network.

The Protector Deluxe uses profiles-based technology. Other business rules employed help establish usage profiles that are based on call type, origination and termination. With the Protector Deluxe, all calls are examined to ensure that customer use does not vary from their profile. Any disparate calls are further examined, and actions to disabling fraudulent patterns can be taken, such as disabling billing entities.

In addition, the Protector Deluxe is a PC-based application. “It is easy to get users trained,” West said. “We are willing to train people [and] we can get them up to speed very quickly.”
