Currently in beta, but available today, the firewall control protocol uses dynamicsoft’s Firewall Control Proxy and NetScreen’s firewall and virtual private network system, the NetScreen 500.
The dynamicsoft Firewall Control Proxy now has to ability to request that a Netscreen firewall open temporary “pinholes” so that voice traffic can be processed by the firewall. These pinholes allow IP traffic to cross a network boundary.
NetScreen also has enhanced the VoIP capabilities of its ScreenOS software, which powers its line of integrated security devices to support the Firewall Control Proxy. The ScreenOS now includes an additional management interface that uses encrypted and authenticated sessions to configure the firewall as VOIP calls occur.
The Firewall Control Proxy will be initially available only on the NetScreen-500.
