Net2Phone chairman resigns

Clifford Sobel officially resigned as Net2Phone’s chairman of the board and from the board of the directors this week to become the United States Ambassador to the Netherlands.

The U.S. Senate confirmed Sobel’s nomination as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Kingdom of the Netherlands on Oct. 31. President George W. Bush nominated Sobel for the position on July 3.

Acting Chief Executive Officer Howard Jonas was elected chairman of Net2Phone, and President Stephen Greenberg was named CEO. Former Net2Phone CEO Howard Balter resigned Oct. 23 as the Internet telephony company posted fourth-quarter results.
