In addition, Motorola will have access to AOL’s content and services for wireline and wireless consumers via a package of mobile and instant messaging applications. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The alliance includes technology and product development, cross-licensing, and marketing, sales and support of jointly developed products. Motorola will integrate the AOL instant messenger service into its wireless devices. The company also plans to license AOL’s Warner Brothers content such as Looney Tunes characters for ring tones, screen savers and wireless games for wireless devices in Europe.
In related news, last week Motorola and America Online announced the two companies are looking to incorporate AOLTV features such as e-mail and instant messaging on Motorola digital set-top terminals in the DCT200 and DCT5000 product lines.
