Austin, TX-based Motive provides software for post-sales service delivery in the call centers of companies such as HP and Fujitsu. "We take the waste out of calls into the call center for support of complex products," said Mike Maples, co-founder and chief strategist at Motive.

BroadJump, also from Austin, got its start with its VirtualTruck software for self-provisioning cable and DSL services and built a ControlWorks service delivery platform for broadband, content and applications providers. The companies have already begun product planning to integrate their roadmaps to provide an integrated solution.

"The combination drives the ideal mixture of product capabilities, but it also allows us to provide a single source approach to the market. Companies are looking for fewer vendors, not more," said Kenny Van Zant, chief operating officer of BroadJump.

Scott Harmon will remain president and CEO at Motive. BroadJump president and CEO, Kip McClanahan, will become president of the combined company.

"We're taking our existing businesses and putting them together. It's not an acquisition for technology or specific assets. We are combining two profitable businesses that independently had a lot of momentum on their own," Van Zant said.

Combined, the companies will have in excess of $100 million in revenues in 2002, and more than $100 million in assets. Both Motive and BroadJump have been profitable for the last two quarters and expect to be profitable from day one of the combined operations.
